4.Electricity Generation Bill [HL]—It was moved by the Lord Ezra that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a committee of the Whole House.
5.European Parliamentary Elections Bill—A bill to amend the European Parliamentary Elections Act 1978 so as to alter the method used in Great Britain for electing Members of the European Parliament; to make other amendments of enactments relating to the election of Members of the European Parliament; and for connected purposes was brought from the Commons, read a first time and ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 88)
6.Lord Chancellor (Tenure of Office) (Amendment) Bill [HL]—It was moved by the Lord Alderdice that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
7.London Docklands Development Corporation (Transfer of Functions) Order 1998—It was moved by the Baroness Hayman that the draft Order laid before the House on 21st January be approved; the motion was agreed to.
8.Urban Development Corporations in England (Area and Constitution) Order 1998—It was moved by the Baroness Hayman that the Order laid before the House on 27th January be approved; the motion was agreed to.
9.Carriage by Air Acts (Application of Provisions) (Fourth Amendment) Order 1998—It was moved by the Baroness Hayman that the draft Order laid before the House on 26th January be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
10.Local Authorities (Transport Charges) Regulations 1998—It was moved by the Baroness Hayman that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 9th February be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
11.Diabetics—The Lord Alderdice asked Her Majesty’s Government what steps they are taking to review the evidence and rationale behind the current policy banning insulin-dependent diabetics from driving large vehicles; after debate, the question was answered by the Baroness Hayman.
