10.School Standards and Framework Bill—A bill to make new provision with respect to school education and the provision of nursery education otherwise than at school; to enable arrangements to be made for the provision of further education for young persons partly at schools and partly at further education institutions; to make provision with respect to the Education Assets Board; and for connected purposes was brought from the Commons, read a first time and ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 94)
11.Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Bill—The report was received; an amendment was disagreed to (see division list); an amendment was moved and (by leave of the House) withdrawn.
12.European Communities (Amendment) Bill—The House again resolved itself into a Committee upon the bill; the debate on an amendment was resumed and, after further debate, was again adjourned; the House was resumed.
13.Armed forces—The Lord Inge asked Her Majesty’s Government what are the key new legal and personnel issues facing the fighting services, and, in particular, whether there are any which will affect their ethos and operational effectiveness; after debate, the question was answered by the Lord Gilbert.
14.European Communities (Amendment) Bill—The House again resolved itself into a Committee upon the bill; the debate on an amendment was again resumed and, after further debate, the amendment was (by leave of the Committee) withdrawn; another amendment was moved and, a debate arising thereon, further debate was adjourned; the House was resumed after the debate on amendment 10 was adjourned.
