2.Islam (A.P.) (Appellant) v. Secretary of State for the Home Department (Respondent)—The petition of the appellant praying that the time for lodging the statement and appendix and setting down the cause for hearing might be extended to 18th May next (the agents for the respondent consenting thereto) was presented; and it was ordered as prayed.
3.Regina v. Immigration Appeal Tribunal and another (Respondents) ex parte Shah (A.P.) (Appellant)—The petition of the appellant praying that the time for lodging the statement and appendix and setting down the cause for hearing might be extended to 18th May next (the agents for the respondents consenting thereto) was presented; and it was ordered as prayed.
4.McFarlane and another (A.P.) (Respondents) v. Tayside Health Board (Appellants) (Scotland)—The respondents’ legal aid certificates were lodged.

National Trust for places of historic interest or natural beauty (Respondents) v. Knipe and another (A.P.) (Petitioners)—That the respondent’s costs be paid out of the Legal Aid Fund in accordance with section 18 of the Legal Aid Act 1988, such order to be suspended until 25th May to enable the Legal Aid Board to object if they wish.

10.Public Interest Disclosure Bill—A bill to protect individuals who make certain disclosures of information in the public interest; to allow such individuals to bring action in respect of victimisation; and for connected purposes was brought from the Commons, read a first time and ordered to be printed. 11.Registered Establishments (Scotland) Bill—A bill to add to the classes of establishment which require to be registered under section 61 of the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968; and for connected purposes was brought from the Commons, read a first time and ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 108)
12.Road Traffic Reduction (National Targets) Bill—A bill to make further provision for road traffic reduction targets; and for related purposes was brought from the Commons, read a first time and ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 109)
13.European Communities (Amendment) Bill—The House again resolved itself into a Committee upon the bill; the debate on an amendment was resumed and, after further debate, the amendment was (by leave of the Committee) withdrawn; an amendment was (by leave of the Committee) withdrawn; another amendment was moved and, a debate arising thereon, further debate was adjourned; the House was resumed.
14.Pesticides Bill—It was moved by the Lord Stone of Blackheath that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
