Tax Credits (Initial Expenditure) Bill (Money Bill)—It was moved by the Lord McIntosh of Haringey that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the Committee was negatived; then, Standing Order 44 having been dispensed with, the bill was read a third time and passed. 14. European Communities (Amendment) Bill—The bill was read a third time; amendments were disagreed to (see division lists 1–4); then, after debate, the bill was passed and returned to the Commons with an amendment. 15. Royal Assent—The Lord Speaker (Lord Brougham and Vaux) notified the Queen’s Assent to the following Acts: Animal Health (Amendment) Act c. 13 Social Security Act c. 14 Magistrates’ Courts (Procedure) Act c. 15 Tax Credits (Initial Expenditure) Act c. 16 16.
