1.Earl of Dunmore—Malcolm Kenneth Earl of Dunmore sat first in Parliament after the death of his father, Kenneth Randolph Earl of Dunmore, having first taken and subscribed the oath pursuant to statute.
2.Leave of Absence—It was ordered that the leave of absence granted to the Lord Clitheroe be terminated.

Judicial Business

3.Appeal Committee—The 98th Report from the Appeal Committee was agreed to and the following Order was made:
Prince Jefri Bolkiah (Petitioner) v. KPMG (a firm) (Respondents)—That leave to appeal be given, and that the petition of appeal be lodged forthwith.
4.Prince Jefri Bolkiah (Appellant) v. KPMG (a firm) (Respondents) (England)—The appeal of Prince Jefri Bolkiah was presented and, Standing Order VII having been dispensed with, it was ordered that the statement and appendix be lodged. The cause was set down for hearing and referred to an Appellate Committee.
5.In re L (1998)—The petition of the London Borough of Croydon praying for leave to appeal was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee.

6.Command Paper—The following paper was presented to the House by command of Her Majesty and ordered to lie on the Table:
Compliance Cost Assessments—List of compliance cost assessments for 1st January to 20th June.
7.Statutory Instrument (Standing Order 68)—The following negative instrument, having been laid before the House on 6th November, was ordered to lie on the Table:
Seeds (National Lists of Varieties) (Amendment) Regulations 1998, laid under the Plant Varieties and Seeds Act 1964.
8.Papers not subject to parliamentary proceedings—The following papers were laid before the House and ordered to lie on the Table:
1.Report for 1997–98 of the Natural Environment Research Council, laid under the Science and Technology Act 1965;

(“(6) The Boundary Commission for Scotland shall submit a report under section 3(1) of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986 no later than twelve months after the first ordinary general election of the Parliament.

(7) The Secretary of State shall make an order giving effect to the report mentioned in subsection (6) within three months of its submission.

(8) An order under subsection (7) shall not be made unless a draft of it has been laid before Parliament and approved by resolution of each House.”);
