Select Committee on European Communities Twentieth Report

TWENTIETH REPORT

17 March 1998

By the Select Committee appointed to consider Community proposals, whether in draft or otherwise, to obtain all necessary information about them, and to make reports on those which, in the opinion of the Committee, raise important questions of policy or principle, and on other questions to which the Committee considers that the special attention of the House should be drawn.

ORDERED TO REPORT

EVIDENCE BY THE MINISTER OF STATE, FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH OFFICE, ON THE LUXEMBOURG EUROPEAN COUNCIL AND THE PROGRAMME FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM PRESIDENCY

  1.  In recent years it has been our practice to take evidence regularly, normally after the six-monthly meetings of the European Council, from a Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

  2.  Accordingly, in this report we make available for the information of the House oral evidence given to us by Mr Doug Henderson MP, Minister for Europe, on the outcome of the Luxembourg European Council held on 12/13 December 1997 and on the Government's programme for the United Kingdom Presidency of the European Union.
