1. Lord BrookmanDavid Keith Brookman Esquire, having been created Baron Brookman, of Ebbw Vale in the County of Gwent, for life by Letters Patent dated in the afternoon of 30th July 1998, was introduced between the Lord Paul and the Lord Davies of Coity, the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod and Garter King of Arms preceding; and took and subscribed the oath pursuant to statute.

2. Regina v. Bartle and the Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis and others (Appellants) ex parte Pinochet (Respondent) (On Appeal from a Divisional Court of the Queens Bench Division) The appeal of the Crown Prosecution Service (on behalf of the Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis and the Kingdom of Spain) was presented and ordered to be prosecuted subject to the procedures applicable thereto.
3. Regina v. Evans and another and the Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis and others (Appellants) ex parte Pinochet (Respondent) (On Appeal from a Divisional Court of the Queens Bench Division) The appeal was set down for hearing and referred to an Appellate Committee.

11. Health service help linesThe Lord Rowallan asked Her Majestys Government what is their long-term policy towards help lines in the field of health services; after debate, the question was answered by the Baroness Hayman.
12. Scotland BillThe bill was further considered on report; amendments were moved and (by leave of the House) withdrawn; amendments were agreed to; it was ordered that the bill be printed as amended. (HL Bill 160)
