Scotland: Local Health Council Budgets

Lord Harris of Haringey asked Her Majesty's Government:

The Minister of State, Scottish Office (Lord Macdonald of Tradeston): In 1998-99 the central budget was £1.6 million and in 1999-2000 it will be £1.674 million.

Scottish Business in the UK Parliament

Lord Hogg of Cumbernauld asked Her Majesty's Government:

Lord Macdonald of Tradeston: The House will need to consider how to handle Scottish business after devolution. Ministers in the United Kingdom Government will, in general, no longer have responsibility for matters which are within the legislative competence of the Scottish Parliament or the executive competence of the Scottish Ministers. They will continue to answer questions about matters within their responsibility.

Scotland: Secondary Education Funding

    Whether they will publish, by local authority area in Scotland, the level of secondary education funding per secondary school pupil in cash terms and in 1998-99 prices in each year since 1992.[HL1083]

Lord Macdonald of Tradeston: The information is given in the table below. 1996-97 is the latest financial year for which actual expenditure information is currently available. The figures, which are derived from local authority returns, do not include the cost of home to school transport, school meals, education authority central administration costs and loan charges. From 1 July 1999 this will be a matter for the Scottish Parliament.
