  Privileges—It was moved by the Chairman of Committees that a Committee for Privileges be appointed and that, as proposed by the Committee of Selection, the following Lords together with the Chairman of Committees and any four Lords of Appeal be named of the Committee:

That the Committee have power to appoint sub-committees and that such sub-committees have power to appoint their own Chairman; and

That the Committee have power to co-opt any Lord for the purposes of serving on any Sub-Committee;

the motion was agreed to.



DIE JOVIS 24° JUNII 1999

  Committee for Privileges—It was moved by the Chairman of Committees that the Viscount Cranborne be appointed a member of the Select Committee in the place of the Viscount Whitelaw; the motion was agreed to.



DIE MARTIS 27° JULII 1999

  House of Lords Bill—It was moved by the Lord Gray that the question whether the House of Lords Bill (as amended on Report) would, if enacted, breach the provisions of the Treaty of Union between England and Scotland be referred to the Committee for Privileges; after debate, the motion was agreed to (see division list 2 [not printed])



DIE JOVIS 29° JULII 1999

  Committee for Privileges—It was moved by the Chairman of Committees, That, for the purpose of hearing the references on the effect of the House of Lords Bill, the senior Lord of Appeal present be appointed Chairman of the Committee for Privileges; and that the Committee have leave to hear parties interested, by themselves, their counsel, agents, and witnesses so far as the Committee think fit; the motion was agreed to.
