The House met at half-past two o’clock.

PRAYERS were read by the Lord Bishop of Norwich.

Judicial Business

1. Regina v. Her Majesty’s Treasury and others (Respondents) ex parte Shepherd Neame Limited (Petitioners)— The petition of Shepherd Neame Limited praying for leave to appeal was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee (lodged 10th March).

2. Chief Adjudication Officer (Appellant) v. Faulds (Respondent) (Scotland)— The appeal was set down for hearing and referred to an Appellate Committee.

3. Regina v. Secretary of State for the Home Department (Respondent) ex parte Hindley (A.P.) (Appellant)— The petition of the appellant praying that the time for lodging the statement and appendix and setting down the cause for hearing might be extended to 19th April next (the agents for the respondent consenting thereto) was presented; and it was ordered as prayed.

4. White (Appellant) v. White (Respondent) (First Appeal)— It was ordered that the appellant be allowed to prosecute the appeal without giving the usual security for costs as required by Standing Order (lodged 11th March).

5. White (Appellant) v. White (Respondent) (Second Appeal)— It was ordered that the appellant be allowed to prosecute the appeal without giving the usual security for costs as required by Standing Order (lodged 11th March).

6. Regina v. Secretary of State for the Home Department (Respondent) ex parte Patel (A.P.) (Appellant)— The appellant’s legal aid certificate was lodged.
