8.Psychotherapy Bill [HL]—A bill to establish a body to be known as the General Psychotherapy Council; to provide for the regulation of the profession of psychotherapy, including making provision as to the registration of psychotherapists and as to their professional education and conduct; to make provision in connection with the development and promotion of the profession; and for connected purposes, was presented by the Lord Alderdice, read a first time and ordered to be printed. 9.Tax simplification bills—A message was brought from the Commons that they have come to the following resolution, to which they desire the concurrence of this House: That it is expedient that a Joint Committee of both Houses be appointed to consider tax simplification bills, and in particular to consider whether each bill committed to it preserves the effect of the existing law, subject to any minor changes which may be desirable.
10. Criminal Defence Service (Advice and Assistance) Bill [HL] —It was moved by the Lord Bach that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
11.Regulatory Reform Bill [HL]—It was moved by the Lord Falconer of Thoroton that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
12.Companies Act 1985 (Electronic Communications) Order 2000—It was moved by the Lord McIntosh of Haringey that the draft Order laid before the House on 23rd October be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
13.Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) (Amendment) (England and Wales) Regulations 2000—It was moved by the Lord Whitty that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 20th November be approved; the motion was agreed to.
