Judicial Business

1.  Regina v. Lambert (Appellant) (On Appeal from the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division))—The petition of Anne Owers and Justice praying for leave to present written and oral submissions in intervention in the said appeal was presented and referred to an Appeal Committee.

3.  Negative Instruments—The following instruments were laid before the House and ordered to lie on the Table:

4.  Papers not subject to parliamentary proceedings—The following papers were laid before the House and ordered to lie on the Table:

    1.      Treasury minute dated 2nd April 2001 directing the applications of certain amounts as appropriations in aid of the estimates for the year ending 31st March 2002, laid under the Government Resources and Accounts Act 2000;

    2.      Accounts for 1999-2000 of the Legal Aid Fund (Northern Ireland), together with the Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General, laid under the Legal Aid Advice and Assistance (Northern Ireland) Order 1981;

    3.      Accounts for 1999-2000 of the Ashington Education Action Zone, together with the Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General, laid under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998;

    4.      Elections (Welsh Forms) Order 2001, laid under the Welsh Language Act 1993.      (1204)

Public Business

5.  Social Security Contributions (Share Options) Bill—It was moved by the Lord McIntosh of Haringey that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.

6.  Social Security (Reduced Rates of Class 1 Contributions) (Salary Related Contracted-out Schemes) Order 2001—It was moved by the Baroness Hollis of Heigham that the draft Order laid before the House on 1st March be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.

7.  Social Security (Reduced Rates of Class 1 Contributions, and Rebates) (Money Purchase Contracted-out Schemes) Order 2001—It was moved by the Baroness Hollis of Heigham that the draft Order laid before the House on 1st March be approved; the motion was agreed to.

8.  Social Security (Minimum Contributions to Appropriate Personal Pension Schemes) Order 2001—It was moved by the Baroness Hollis of Heigham that the draft Order laid before the House on 1st March be approved; the motion was agreed to.

9.  Social Security (Breach of Community Order) Regulations 2001—It was moved by the Baroness Hollis of Heigham that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 20th March be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.

10.  Criminal Justice and Police Bill—It was moved by the Lord Bassam of Brighton that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.
