Select Committee on Religious Offences in England and Wales Written Evidence

Submission from the Tireh Particular Baptist Chapel

I write on behalf of the above chapel to express our deep concern at the proposed Bill to abolish the Common Law offence of blasphemy and other related offences.

We are a nation whose constitution is based upon the Word of God and the Protestant faith, which Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth confirmed during her Coronation ceremony. The proposals of this Bill are totally contrary to the commands of God as detailed in Holy Scripture and if implemented will result in further degrading our constitution and our country.
