8. Business of the HouseIt was moved by the Lord Privy Seal (Lord Williams of Mostyn) that the debates on the motions in the names of the Lord Harrison and the Baroness Massey of Darwen set down for today shall each be limited to 2½ hours; the motion was agreed to.
9. CorruptionIt was moved by the Lord Privy Seal (Lord Williams of Mostyn) that it is expedient that a Joint Committee of Lords and Commons be appointed to consider and report on any draft Corruption Bill presented to both Houses by a Minister of the Crown, and that the Committee should report not later than four months after any such bill has been presented to both Houses; the motion was agreed to and a message was ordered to be sent to the Commons to seek their agreement thereto.

The Arts (2½-hour debate)It was moved by the Lord Harrison that there be laid before the House papers relating to the part played by the arts in the cultural life of this country including the contribution made through free access to museums and art galleries; after debate, the motion was (by leave of the House) withdrawn.
11. Children (2½-hour debate)It was moved by the Baroness Massey of Darwen that there be laid before the House papers relating to the need for the co-ordination of health and social services to improve the life chances of children and young people; after debate, the motion was (by leave of the House) withdrawn.
