FOREWORD—what this
Report is about
This Annual Report describes the work of the House
of Lords EU Select Committee and its seven Sub-Committees over
the past year, and looks forward to the Committee's work in the
coming year.
The Report analyses scrutiny overrides (occasions
when Ministers act before the Committee's scrutiny is complete),
and urges the Government to ensure that Committees are kept fully
informed about the progress of negotiations (paras 121-126).
The Report also makes recommendations regarding General Approaches
(para 127), delays in Ministerial correspondence with the
Committee (paras 128-131), the contents of Government Explanatory
Memoranda (paras 137-138), and Commission responses to Committee
Reports (paras 140-142).
