1    Royal Assent The Lord Speaker (Baroness Hayman) notified the Queen’s Assent to the following Act:

2    Taxation: businesses A question was asked by Lord Roberts of Conwy and answered by Lord Davies of Oldham.

3    Housing: Energy Performance Certificates A question was asked by Baroness Gardner of Parkes and answered by Baroness Andrews.

4    Female genital mutilation A question was asked by Baroness Rendell of Babergh and answered by Baroness Thornton.

5    War graves A question was asked by Lord Faulkner of Worcester and answered by Baroness Taylor of Bolton.

6    Business of the House The Lord President (Baroness Ashton of Upholland) moved that the debates on the motions in the names of Lord Morris of Manchester and Lord Pendry set down for today shall each be limited to 2½ hours. The motion was agreed to.

7    Statutory Instruments The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Brett be appointed a member of the Joint Committee in place of Lord Gould of Brookwood, resigned. The motion was agreed to.

8    Rail Vehicle Accessibility (Interoperable Rail System) Regulations 2008

Ministerial and other Salaries Order 2008

The Lord President (Baroness Ashton of Upholland) moved that the draft statutory instruments be referred to a Grand Committee en bloc. The motion was agreed to.

9    Disability rights (2½-hour debate) Lord Morris of Manchester moved for papers relating to the 30th anniversary of disability rights legislation covering the whole of the United Kingdom and the progress of disability rights. After debate, the motion was withdrawn.

10    Sport and physical education (2½-hour debate) Lord Pendry moved for papers relating to the case for a new sport and physical education strategy. After debate, the motion was withdrawn.

11    Common Agricultural Policy (EUC Report) Lord Sewel moved that this House takes note of the Report of the European Union Committee on The Future of the Common Agricultural Policy (7th Report, HL Paper 54). After debate, the motion was agreed to.

The House adjourned at 6.06pm until 2.30pm on Monday 9 June.
