8620. CHAIRMAN: I have got the letter
of 11 April now, Mr Mould, and I see that the topics are referred
to and of course the local authorities, but I think we will have
to consider with the references you have given us whether we ought
to go into a little bit more detail in the report.
8621. MR MOULD: My Lord, as I say, perhaps
at an appropriate moment we can discuss the way forward on that
question.
8622. CHAIRMAN: These are such important
issues and so many people have raised them, even if they have
not in the end turned up to present their Petitions, that I think
everybody needs to know what is going to be in place.
8623. MR MOULD: My Lord, I certainly
would not seek to differ from you on that point. As I say, you
have the letter and perhaps you will have an opportunity to briefly
glance at it and the references that are given and you can then
see what further material, if any, you would like from us.
8624. CHAIRMAN: Thank you, Mr Mould.
8625. MR MOULD: My Lord, if it is convenient
I will just mention matters over the remainder of this week and
into next week.
8626. CHAIRMAN: I gather there are some
developments about EWS.
8627. MR MOULD: Yes, what I am told,
put very broadly, is that the outstanding issues between ourselves
and EWS are continuing, happily, to narrow.
8628. CHAIRMAN: These are the site-specific
ones?
8629. MR MOULD: Yes. The position is
that it is, I think, unnecessary for your Lordships to hear from
EWS as was originally programmed tomorrow but rather they will
deal with their remaining issues during the course of their programmed
slot next Wednesday 30 April, carrying on if necessary on to Thursday
1 May. The other matter that is provisionally listed for tomorrow
was the reappearance of the Trustees of the SS Robin, but again
I believe that they are now being asked to return possibly on
Thursday of next week, again on 1 May, the upshot of that being
then that there is no business for your Lordships tomorrow and
we meet again on Monday 28 April.
8630. CHAIRMAN: We are going in the bus
on Monday.
8631. MR MOULD: To see the delights of
Paddington, which of course are very many, as those who are interested
in railway history will know. The other thing I need to say to
your Lordships is this: we have the position response documents
ready to hand round straightaway.
8632. CHAIRMAN: That does appear to conclude
today's proceedings and I do not think anybody will be sorry.
Thank you very much indeed. The Committee will meet on Monday
next at 2 o'clock at the bus in Black Rod's Garden. I expect there
will be somebody who comes with us from the Promoters as before.
Do you know if there are going to be people from Paddington wishing
to meet us on the site?
8633. MR MOULD: I believe that there
are—a representative of Westminster City Council, a representative
of the PRACT group, and also I think Lady Bright.
8634. CHAIRMAN: We will be very pleased
to see them. The Committee is adjourned until next Monday afternoon.
