Letter and supplementary memorandum from
the Minister for Europe
I am replying to Susannah Street's letter of
4 January requesting additional evidence on the impact of the
Lisbon Treaty on EU Institutions, following my appearance before
the Committee in December. Please find attached the replies, which
I hope you will find helpful.
During the evidence session I promised to provide
you with information on the number of FCO staff seconded to Commission.
There are currently five FCO Seconded National Experts to EU Institutions,
only one of whom is seconded to the Commission. There are 112
Seconded National Experts in total in all EU Institutions from
all Whitehall Departments.
Finally, the Government will publish a consolidated
version of the EU Treaties as amended by the Lisbon Treaty later
this week, following your request. I hope this will help the Committee's
inquiry into the impact of the Lisbon Treaty on the EU Institutions.
