23.  This Order will wind up the Crown Agents Realisation Board as soon as its final year's accounts have been cleared. The Board was originally set up to realise residual assets overseas; this objective has now been largely achieved, returning £38m to the Consolidated Fund by 31 December 2007.

LONDON SKILLS AND EMPLOYMENT BOARD (SPECIFIED FUNCTIONS) ORDER 2008 (SI 2008/119)

24.  The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) have laid these statutory instruments to provide for the establishment of the London Skills and Employment Board ("the Board") chaired by the Mayor, its membership and the appointment of its members other than the Mayor. The Board is required to formulate a strategy, and keep it under review, setting out how specified functions are to be carried out by the Learning and Skills Council for England in Greater London. In advance of the formal conferral of powers, the Board has in fact been operating since the end of 2006; and the Mayor and the Board have carried out consultation on a draft strategy for London between October 2007 and January 2008.
