  "Requirements of apprenticeship frameworks
(1)  An apprenticeship framework must specify the number of Guided Learning Hours delivered off-workstation that an apprentice is to receive across the duration of the apprenticeship framework, and this must be at a minimum of 250 Guided Learning Hours, conducted at a separate physical location to that in which an apprentice's work normally takes place.
  This may include periods of study which take place in an employer's premises (for example in a company training room), but may not include periods of private, unsupervised study; it may also include periods when apprentices receive new material online at their regular computer.
(2)  An apprenticeship framework must normally specify two separate qualifications, the first concerned with competence and the second a technical certificate concerned with knowledge, and the same requirement will apply to advanced apprenticeships.
(3)  An apprenticeship framework must also specify that an apprentice is to attain functional skills qualifications in mathematics and English to a level half-way between Level 1 and Level 2.
(4)  An advanced apprenticeship framework must specify that an apprentice is required to attain functional skills qualifications in mathematics and English at Level 2.
(5)  At each point during an apprenticeship, each apprentice shall have a named mentor employed by the employer."
