Page 125, line 25, at end insert—
"(2B)  Provision by virtue of subsection (2)(b) may, in particular, provide that applications for approval of premises may only be made with the consent (whether general or specific) of a person specified, or a person of a description specified, in the provision.
(2C)  The power conferred by section 258(2), in its application to the power conferred by this section, includes in particular—
(a)  power to make provision in relation to religious premises that differs from provision in relation to other premises;
(b)  power to make different provision for different kinds of religious premises."
Page 125, line 29, at end insert—
"(3B)  "Civil marriage" means marriage solemnised otherwise than according to the rites of the Church of England or any other religious usages.
(3C)  "Religious premises" means premises which—
(a)  are used solely or mainly for religious purposes, or
(b)  have been so used and have not subsequently been used solely or mainly for other purposes."

"Religious adoption and fostering agencies

(1)      Sub-paragraph (2) applies to a voluntary adoption agency or fostering agency that—
(a)  is an organisation of the kind referred to in paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 23, or
(b)  acts on behalf of, or under the auspices of, such an organisation.
(2)      Subject to paragraph (3), nothing in this Act shall make it unlawful for such a voluntary adoption agency or fostering agency to restrict the provision of its services or facilities to a person on the grounds of sexual orientation.
(3)      If such a voluntary adoption agency or fostering agency restricts the provision of those services or facilities as mentioned in sub-paragraph (2), it must at the same time refer the person seeking them to another person who the agency believes provides similar services or facilities to persons of his sexual orientation.
(4)      Sub-paragraph (2) permits a restriction only if imposed—
(a)  if it is necessary to comply with the doctrine of the organisation, or
(b)  so as to avoid conflicting with the strongly held religious convictions of a significant number of the religion's followers."
