*Baroness Kinnock of Holyhead to ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the situation in Burma in advance of the first general election in that country since 2010, which is due to take place in November.

*Baroness Jones of Moulsecoomb to ask Her Majesty’s Government what plans they have to consult and otherwise engage with stakeholders about the interception of communications data.

*Lord Holmes of Richmond to ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the provision made for disabled spectators at Premier League football stadiums.

*Lord Hylton to ask Her Majesty’s Government what representations they are making to the government of Turkey, following recent attacks on political party offices and restraints on journalists, in view of the pending general election there.

Baroness Stowell of Beeston to move that this House takes note of the case for further incremental reform of the House of Lords to address the size of the House.

Lord Pearson of Rannoch to move to resolve that this House considers it an abuse of the constitution for any new peerages under the Life Peerages Act 1958 to be conferred on persons intending to take the Liberal Democrat party whip until at least 12 new peerages under that Act are conferred on persons who intend to take the United Kingdom Independence Party whip.

Lord Steel of Aikwood to move to resolve that this House considers it desirable that on the Dissolution of each Parliament those members of the House aged 80 or over should retire from the House under section 1 of the House of Lords Reform Act 2014, save that such members should elect 12 of their number to remain as members of the House for the following Parliament.

Lord Lea of Crondall to move that this House calls on all political parties to work together, in conjunction with a statutory House of Lords Appointments Commission, to ensure that recommendations for future appointments to the House (including those arising from the internal mechanisms of the parties themselves) are made with a view both to enhancing the reputation of the House and to ensuring an appropriate balance between the political parties.

1 Retirement The Lord Speaker informed the House of the retirement with effect from 14 September of Lord Parkinson under section 1 of the House of Lords Reform Act 2014.

2 Food supply: sustainability A question was asked by the Lord Bishop of St Albans and answered by Lord Gardiner of Kimble.

The motion was agreed to.

7 Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament The Lord Privy Seal (Baroness Stowell of Beeston) moved that this House approves the nomination of Lord Janvrin and the Marquess of Lothian as members of the Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament. After debate, the motion was agreed to.

8 Charities (Protection and Social Investment) Bill [HL] The bill was read a third time. Amendments were considered and a privilege amendment was agreed to. Then the bill was passed and sent to the Commons.

9 Energy Bill [HL] The bill was further considered in Committee, beginning with the question that clause 59 be agreed to. Amendments 36 and 43 were agreed to. The House resumed and the bill was reported with amendments. The bill, as amended, was ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 62)

10 Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015 Baroness Williams of Trafford moved that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 16 March be approved. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
