Decisions after 1996 were made under the 1996 Housing Act, but include any residual 1985 Act cases.

| 2 Figures prior to 1997, which reflect decisions taken under the 1985 Housing Act, include around 4,000 non-priority need acceptances each year, which can not be removed from the reason for loss series; consequently, totals for these years are not consistent with those presented in the total acceptances and priority need series (Tables 621, 622, 632 etc).
