Prayers were read by the Lord Bishop of Chelmsford 1 Barony of Nelson of Stafford in the Peerage of the United Kingdom The petition of Alistair William Henry Nelson claiming to have succeeded to the Barony of Nelson of Stafford in the Peerage of the United Kingdom and praying that the Clerk of the Parliaments might be directed to enter the petitioner as Lord Nelson of Stafford on his register of hereditary peers maintained under Standing Order 10(5) was presented and was referred to the Lord Chancellor for a report to the House pursuant to Standing Order 11. Select Committee Report 2 Human Rights The following Report from the Joint Committee was made and ordered to be printed: 10th Report, on Treatment of Asylum Seekers. (HL Paper 81) Public Business 3 Gulf War illnesses A question was asked by Lord Morris of Manchester and answered by Lord Drayson. 4 Drivers: European Union regulations A question was asked by Lord Willoughby de Broke and answered by Lord Bassam of Brighton. 5 Prisoners: foreign nationals A question was asked by Lord Waddington and answered by Baroness Scotland of Asthal. 6 Olympic Games 2012: costs A question was asked by Lord Fowler and answered by Lord Davies of Oldham. Page 366 2006-07 Volume 240 Back to top7 Business of the House Lord Rooker, on behalf of the Lord President (Baroness Amos), moved that the debate on the motion in the name of Baroness Walmsley set down for today shall be limited to 2 hours and that in the name of Lord Lester of Herne Hill to 3 hours. The motion was agreed to. 8 Public services (2-hour debate) Baroness Walmsley moved for papers relating to the monitoring by Parliament and Government of the quality, value for money and transparency of public services commissioned from the private sector. After debate, the motion was withdrawn. 9 Human rights (3-hour debate) Lord Lester of Herne Hill moved for papers relating to the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the United Kingdom. After debate, the motion was withdrawn. 10 Disabled Persons (Independent Living) Bill [HL] The bill was considered in Committee. Amendments were agreed to. The House resumed and the bill was reported with amendments. The bill, as amended, was ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 55) 11 Energy Efficiency and Microgeneration Bill [HL] The bill was considered in Committee. Amendments were agreed to. The House resumed and the bill was reported with amendments. The bill, as amended, was ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 56) 12 Digital Switchover (Disclosure of Information) Bill The bill was reported from the Grand Committee with an amendment. It was ordered that the bill be printed as amended. (HL Bill 57) The House adjourned at 5.18pm until Monday 26 March at 2.30pm. Grand Committee Business The Grand Committee met in the Moses Room at 2.00pm Digital Switchover (Disclosure of Information) Bill The Grand Committee considered the bill. An amendment was agreed to.
