Page 715 2006-07 Volume 240 Back to top2 Health: hospital travel costs A question was asked by Earl Howe and answered by Lord Davies of Oldham. 3 European Parliament A question was asked by Lord Teverson and answered by Lord Davies of Oldham. 4 Zimbabwe A question was asked by Lord Blaker and answered by Baroness Royall of Blaisdon. 5 Reading Clerk The Lord President (Baroness Ashton of Upholland) informed the House that the Lord Speaker had appointed Dr Rhodri Havard Walters to be Reading Clerk in succession to Mr David Richard Beamish from 4 November 2007. 6 Business of the House The Lord President (Baroness Ashton of Upholland) moved that Standing Order 41 (Arrangement of the Order Paper) be dispensed with on Wednesday 18 July to allow the motion in the name of Lord Carlile of Berriew to be taken before the motion in the name of Lord Adonis. The motion was agreed to. 7 Business of the House The Lord President (Baroness Ashton of Upholland) moved that Standing Order 47 (No two stages of a Bill to be taken on one day) be dispensed with to allow the Finance Bill and the Consolidated Fund (Appropriation) (No. 2) Bill to be taken through all their remaining stages on Tuesday 17 July. The motion was agreed to. 8 Regulatory Reform (Deer) (England and Wales) Order 2007 9 Companies Act 2006 (Commencement No. 3, Consequential Amendments, Transitional Provisions and Savings) Order 2007 The Lord President (Baroness Ashton of Upholland) moved that the draft instruments be referred to a Grand Committee en bloc. The motion was agreed to. 10 Procedure of the House The Chairman of Committees moved that the 4th Report from the Select Committee be agreed to. The motion was agreed to. 11 Extradition Act 2003 (Amendment to Designations) Order 2007 Lord West of Spithead moved that the draft Order laid before the House on 24 May be approved. After debate, the motion was agreed to. 12 Energy: White Paper Lord Jones of Birmingham moved that this House takes note of the White Paper Meeting the energy challenge. After debate, the motion was agreed to. 13 Sustainable Communities Bill Lord Marlesford moved that the bill be now read a second time. After debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House. The House adjourned at 4.57pm until Monday 16 July at 2.30pm. Grand Committee Business The Grand Committee met in the Moses Room at 2.00pm UK Borders Bill The Grand Committee further considered the bill, beginning with amendment 25A. Amendments were agreed to. The Committee adjourned after amendment 33. The Committee adjourned at 6.00pm.
