When I gave oral evidence to the Committee on
21 March, members asked for the source of my statement that some
1,500 US agencies at federal, State and local level might get
access to data sent under the PNR Agreement.
This figure comes from paragraph 11 of evidence
given to the Committee in October 2004 by the Europol, Eurojust
and Customs Joint Supervisory Authorities in connection with its
inquiry into terrorism, and published on page 148 of its report
After Madrid: the EU's response to terrorism (5th Report
of Session 2004-05, HL Paper 53).
