2200. CHAIRMAN: I am not suggesting it
in any pejorative sense, but one must turn over the page.
2201. MR MOULD: I will just turn the
page because there is one further point, just on timing.[10]
You will see that a revised community relations framework is intended
to be put to a meeting of our planning forum for discussion during
the course of this month, and the London Borough, as one of the
interested planning authorities, will no doubt participate actively
in those discussions.
2202. My Lord, those are the very few points
of additional detail that I wish to draw to the Committee's attention.
Unless there is anything else in relation to Mr Drabble's statement,
I shall stop there.
2203. CHAIRMAN: I do not see any further
questions from us. Mr Drabble, have you got anything further to
say?
2204. MR DRABBLE: My Lord, no.
2205. CHAIRMAN: Thank you all very much
for that illumination. We may have taken a little bit longer than
expected on this matter but Tower Hamlets raised some extremely
important points, and some of them have general application. I
do not think that in any way we have wasted our time this morning;
we have clarified a number of matters. We are all very grateful
to both sides for what they have been able to tell us. Thank you
very much. Now we come to the question of coffee, which I suspect
is not ready. Nevertheless, we will break until a quarter-to-twelve
and then we will listen to Mr Middleton.
After a short break
2206. MS LIEVEN: My Lords, we presented
this photograph in the Commons, but unfortunately we had not ingested
it, which is why we could not show it before the coffee break.[11]
The point is not the painting of the McDonalds, which is, obviously,
beyond our control, but just to show that with a decent sign there
is fairly good visibility down to Fulborne Street Station. We
do have somewhere, but it seems to have disappeared into the Crossrail
archives, an image of the plaza itself, which if we can find we
will perhaps produce for the Committee tomorrow.
2207. LORD BROOKE OF ALVERTHORPE: That
is the new plaza?
2208. MS LIEVEN: That is the new plaza
we will create outside the station itself.
2209. LORD SNAPE: Is that with the stalls
or without them?
2210. MS LIEVEN: We have not included
the stalls, at this stage. I think that would be for Tower Hamlets
as to whether they will relocate the stalls. It is also, the Committee
will remember from last week, where the bicycles are going to
go, in that plaza outside Fulborne Street.
2211. CHAIRMAN: Did it show the revamped
McDonalds at Tower Hamlets?
2212. MS LIEVEN: This was produced in
the Commons in response to Tower Hamlets' Petition. Indeed, it
has to be said, Mr Drabble is the only person who still has a
copy.
2213. BARONESS FOOKES: Is that all they
saw? Did they go and visit the site?
2214. MS LIEVEN: The Committee? Yes,
they did, my Lady. They went to the site.
2215. BARONESS FOOKES: They saw no disparity
between the reality and the photograph?
2216. MS LIEVEN: I have to say that I
did this part of the Petition in the Commons and I do take responsibility
for this. There were comments about the fact that McDonalds had
been painted in the image, but apart from that the Commons were
happy that our proposals were acceptable and that the McDonalds
site did not fall, as it were, within our remit and was not necessary
for the station.
2217. CHAIRMAN: Enough of McDonalds.

dealing with now is the Petition of Mr Middleton.

2219. CHAIRMAN: I am just going to explain
to Mr Middleton. The situation that we have been adopting is that
we have a very brief introduction from the Promoters just to say
what it is all about—factual—then it is over to you.
I do not know whether you are prepared to answer questions—you
may or may not be.
