13120. MR ELVIN: If there are any other
matters arising from that or the Committee require further clarification,
no doubt the Committee will let me know.
13121. MS KHELA: Do I get a right of
response to any of these issues? I have a report here which does
not mention anything about Whitechapel Station. It mentions the
50-storey tower. Residents in Spitalfields have spent several
years arguing on the Heron Tower and today we have heard something
entirely different, that it is something to do with the station,
yet the Mott MacDonald report in 2002—
13122. CHAIRMAN: Are you at the moment
representing the Association?
13123. MS KHELA: Well, I am the agent,
so I imagine I am.
13124. CHAIRMAN: No, I do not think you
are. You have got counsel.
13125. MS KHELA: No, I do not have counsel
actually.
13126. MR GOODMAN: I am not instructed
for the WHRA.
13127. CHAIRMAN: Are you not?
13128. MR GOODMAN: No.
13129. MS KHELA: There is a report here
which I have provided which quite clearly says, "Development
east of Liverpool Street Station and Bishopsgate, a 50-storey
building, constrains the alignment. Three alignments were considered
in the Crossrail Report: alignments A and B with a station at
Whitechapel and alignment C, without a station, running to the
south of Whitechapel approximately along Commercial Road. Of these
alignments, B and C can no longer be considered due to the development
east of Liverpool Street Station, Aldgate, a 50-storey development.
Should the development proposal change, then these alignments
may become viable options once again". If the Committee does
want to hear evidence on the piled buildings, which is the recent
argument presented, they were the Spitalfields Petitioners who
mentioned this and I will refer the Committee also to what Matthew
Horton said—
13130. CHAIRMAN: Please will you stop.
There is no point in your going on with this. We have heard what
Mr Elvin said—
13131. MS KHELA: And Matthew Horton says
at 3880—
13132. CHAIRMAN: Please will you stop.
13133. MS KHELA:—that there is
a planning application which has been withdrawn which has now
been shown as existing.
13134. CHAIRMAN: If you will not stop,
I will adjourn the Committee.
13135. MS KHELA: I am not being heard?
13136. CHAIRMAN: No, because I am telling
you that it does not make any difference. We cannot do anything
about it.
13137. MS KHELA: We have not been consulted
on option B and we were not allowed to comment. I think that is
appalling, that we were not allowed to comment, so we were totally
reliant on the third reading because we were denied the opportunity
to be heard.
13138. CHAIRMAN: This Committee is now
adjourned for five minutes.
